The world of Korean drama lovers is busy talking about the series entitled S-Line. In this drama, the main character has the ability to see red lines in the head that connect people who have had intimate relationships. A power that reveals hidden connections, although it also gives rise to various conflicts and social dilemmas.
However, this time we are not discussing the drama. We want to invite readers to imagine what if such power were present in the real world, but used to save lives?
Let's call it the T-Line.
T-Line: Reading the TB Transmission Route
T-Line is a metaphor for the super powers possessed by health workers and TB cadres in detecting and tracking the spread of TB, an infectious disease which is still a silent killer in society.
In the real world, TB is often difficult to detect. Many people with mild symptoms are not aware that they are transmitting the disease, while the stigma attached to it makes many patients reluctant to get checked. According to WHO data, Indonesia is still one of the countries with the highest TB burden in the world, but around 21.6% of TB cases have not been found in 2024.
This is where T-Line's imagination comes into play. Imagine if health workers and cadres had tools such as special glasses that could see the "red line" between one person and another who was at risk of infection. With this tool, tracing close contacts becomes faster, early detection becomes easier, and transmission can be prevented from the start.
Privacy and Ethics: Learning from the End of the S-Line
At the end of the S-Line story, everyone finally has the ability to see red lines, and the world becomes chaotic because all past relationships are revealed. But T-Line is not like that. T-Line can only be used by parties who have the authority and competence, namely health workers and trained TB cadres. This is important to maintain privacy, ethics and social peace of society.
T-Line might not really exist today. But we can all be part of the red line that is no less important: the line of solidarity and empathy in facing TB.
